Croydon Cyclone 2009

The croydon Cyclone is a tournament held at Croydon Disc Golf Club's Lloyd Park disc golf course. Here you can find out all about the 2009 event which was held on the 5th/6th of September 2009.

This years event was rather special due to the attendance of three world champion players. Avery and Valarie Jenkins (Brother and Sister) are the current men's and lady's Champions and Nate Doss who was the World Champion in 2005 and 2007.

Nate Doss.... CDGC Croydon Cyclone 09 Champion

The weekend of 5/6 Sept 09 saw a record breaking 73 players competing in the croydon cyclone 09.
After setting the record turnout at last years inaugral Cyclone the announcment that 3 World Champs were coming to play swelled the field to these record proportions.

The Cyclone was played in perfect weather on a course that looked as good as it ever has. Croydon Council had timed the second grass cut of the year perfectly and therefore with a lot of strimming and a little basket maintanence the Lloyd Park venue was as good as it could be.

The disc golf on display turned out to be very good indeed. Nate Doss, 2005 and 2007 World Champion set the course record at 47 (-10) and shot really consistant golf as he repeated that score twice more and comfortably held onto his lead in the final 9. Nate became Cyclone Champion in front of 2nd place Avery Jenkins (09 World Champ), Derek Robins, 16 times British Champion, Croydon High flyer Jester Wilson and 3 times Ladies World Champion Valarie Jenkins. The final was watched by a large crowd and has been videoe d for future release. There will be more about the Cyclone to follow...

We, at CDGC, thank all those that competed and helped to make the Cyclone a fantastic success.
