CDGC players have won the first ever Hyzer cup beating Quarry Park players by one point.
The first leg, played back in November at Quarry Park saw QP finish with a 2 point lead at their home course, so we needed to beat them by a minimum of 2 and a half points at our home course to win...
The first round, once again, was played in the modified doubles match play format and we managed to win by 2 points meaning that we went into the last round, played as singles match play level pegging. Once most of the groups got back to the club house (The Bongo on this occasion), it became clear that croydon were 3 points ahead with 3 groups still to return with their final scores. One of those three groups (well played Ali) had won so the final result had CDGC 1 up for the entire competition.
We always knew it of course!!
WELL DONE CDGC!!! and QP!
CDGC would like to take this oppertunity to thank both our chariman, Richard, and Richard from QP whose hard work made this event possible, as well as all the players whose input, sportsmanship and sence of humour made this competition so enjoyable.
This has now been set in stone as an annual winter event between CDGC and QP so watch out for next year's event!
