Its Festival Time back at Lloyd Park.

The weekend of 31 july/1 Aug sees the annual Mela Music Festival and CDGC has yet again been invited to take part. We will have a large area to demonstrate disc golf and hope to have a good laugh as we babysit the Croydon Youth!!!

We had a good time last year but this year we hope to put on a better showing as we have learned lessons.

If you can help out on one or both of the days we would be very grateful. We will basically have a couple of days chucking plastic and introducing the public to the sport.

So, if you can and want to get involved, SIGN UP HERE...

The last two days at the Mela Weekend was a fantastic success. Saturday, which featured The Damned and the Lightening Seeds (cant believe they didnt play Three Lions!!!) was very busy at the CDGC stand.

We had a brilliant spot, right next to a bar with a huge throwing area. The new orange posts worked a treat with the high viz tape and kept the vast majority of the public out.

Saturdays team (James, Josh Sam and myself) were on the go from 1300-1830... a solid stream of people came along and tried disc golf out for the first time. We had all ages playing and proved too popular at times! Highlight was trying to teach 32 players to putt in a ring of fire whilst trying to talk over The Damned!!!! the four of us were shattered at the end of the day...

Sunday saw the addition of Phil, Ozzy dan, Tom, Louie, Jerry, And Sam to the original 4... The additional players certainly helped a lot and helped spread the love. It was great to see so many there and fantastic to see you guys just get involved. It showed the club off in a great light.

We closed down at about 7 on Sunday and Jerry and I chilled for the last hour or so when a couple of the guys who were very enthusiastic during the day approached us. They came to say thanks for all our work and all the coaching that we had given. They came with 3 trays of freshly cooked curry, rice and salad. Fantastic fare and a well appreciated thought at the end of a long hard day.

Now we wait to see whether or not our labours were in vain, but, Croydon Disc Golf certainly raised their profile locally and I would be very surprised if we didn't get one or two more members from our efforts.

Thanks to everyone once again.
