Seeing as the Croydon On Tour thread is still buggered I thought I'd see who was planning to go to Frostbreaker. I just registered and payed

I may be leaving London and wont get in the practice that I want, but I still plan to do as much of the tour as possible. I'm guessing I'll be getting a 4.5 hour train from Grantham to Yeovil (then walking?) unless I meet up with someone with space in a car at Croydon (which might take longer).

I'm going and have booked a bed in the summerhouse. Unfortunately, I can't help with a lift as were going from the South Coast. Am looking forward to it but really need to get some practice in beforehand. If you get the chance it's worth doing some practice of throwing up and down big hills. There are a lot of those at Whitcombe!

I'm thinking the train will be easier, quicker and possibly cheaper. I assume some kind person could come fetch me on the Friday evening from whatever the nearest train station is.

I've got just the place to practice hill shots back home. Also spotted an area I might be able to make a course out of by a nearby village. May need to invest in a travel basket.

FYI the nearest station is Crewkerne on the Exeter St David's line from London Waterloo.

Crewkerne is about 15 minutes by cab and costs about £10 (must be pre-booked: 01460 75088)

Cheers Jester.

I'm really looking forward to starting the season now. With a lot of putting practice I'm hoping to surprise a few people in the Int Ams in my first year. I don't expect much at Frostbreaker, but it will be a good place to start practicing shot selection and seeing what I really need in my bag.

Excellent stuff, Stew. I like the cut of your jib!

As one of the toughest golfing tests you'll ever play, Whitcombe can be a shock to the system, but it's all about the shot selection. Croydon is very forgiving to errant shots whereas the huge hills and drop-offs at Whitcombe are not! You just have to look at what's in front of you and weight up the options and IMHO go for the shot with a low risk you know you can execute, rather than the a high risk that could go wrong. I'm sure you'll enjoy the whole experience, Whitcombe is an awesome place.

What's wrong with it stewart? Just did a test thread and deleted it again and it worked fine. What's the problem you get, sounds like it's something known about but no one has mentioned it to me?

It said that no-one had permission to view it before, even Bruce (the moderator). It appears to be accessible now.

Strange, I know what fixed it. I went in to check all the permissions which where correct but I resaved them any way. I always wondered why everyone posted tour stuff else where! I had access but then I am admin which has overall permission for everything and I guess Barney (Richard) did too as he's posted in it but then he is also admin.

Sorry everyone!
