As the country is shrowded in snow and we are warned to be careful outside due to extremely low temperatures a brave few head out into the Dorset countryside to throw those silly plastic things at those strange metal things.

As far as I am aware Croydon will be represented by Jester (Open), Ali (Adv Am) and myself (Int Am).

As yet we don't know what the course is looking like re: snow etc. as the owner, Toby, is only just in his way back to the farm today. Weather looks like clear but a bit blowy on Saturday, then horrid watery death on Sunday, with the wind going the opposite direction from Sat.

Watch this space and pray we come back in one piece (I'm sleeping in a tent like a real man )

Message from Stew re: Todays Play At Whitcombe

Jester 7th with 94 for 27 holes. Matt, Sue, Jesse top 3. Ali 2nd bottom advam 105. I'm 5th intam with 109. Day was a bit windy, but not too bad and the frost made for some unfortunate slides away from the basket. Top intam got 90 so I'm aiming for 2nd. Hopefully shoot around 100, but the rain wont help.

The weeked was fun and tiring and the weather was just perfect. It was pretty cold both days, but the rain held off until we finished on Sunday and there was just enough snow on the ground to make discs slide 100m down hill away from birdie putts and white discs become hard to find.

The format had been changed to a single round of 27 holes on each day, with a "golf start" on Saturday allowing people to start later and not rush down on Friday night in icey conditions. I personally was happy to have gotten to experience all but 9 of the 36 legendary holes, but think I would have done better had I played the same holes 3 times and had a rest from trekking the hills at midday.

My result wasn't great (in fact Croydon didn't do too well at all), but I learned a lot about hills and was excited to make my longest drive at about 670 feet (assuming the yardage is accurate) on "Mega Bunny", almost getting a 2. My target now is to make top 3 IntAm at QP Spring Fling and hopefully by the Cyclone make the AdvAm final.
